Prof Christina Mitchell, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University; and Prof Ross Coppel, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University, visited CUHK to take part in the inaugural meeting for the establishment of the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME).

A delegation comprised of Prof Claude Bernard, Head, Multiple Sclerosis Research Group, Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI); Mr Silvio Tiziani, Director, External Strategy and Planning, ARMI; Ms Jasmine Lu, Senior Business Development Manager, Victorian Government Business Office, paid a return visit to our School of Biomedical Sciences and Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM) to further explore future collaboration between the 2 institutions in academic and industrial scopes and areas. 

 

In addition to the meeting with our fellow members on the management and operation of iTERM and SBS, the delegation was invited to tour the Core Laboratory of the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, including Imaging and Microscopy Core, Bio-Fabrication Core, Flow Cytometry Core, etc., during which they learnt about our major themes of research and daily practice of the Institute.

A CUHK delegation comprised of seven Faculty members, including Prof Wai-yee Chan, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS); Prof Rocky Tuan, Director of Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM); Prof Vincent Mok, Assistant Dean (Admission); Prof Li Gang, Professor of Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology; Prof Tin-lap Lee, Deputy Chief of Developmental and Regenerative Biology Program of SBS; Prof Xiaohua Jiang, Assistant Professor of SBS; Prof Kathy Lui, Assistant Professor of Department of Chemical Pathology; as well as three members of the Faculty of Engineering, including Prof Raymond Tong, Programme Director & Division Head of Biomedical Engineering; Prof Jonathan Choi, Assistant Professor of Department of Electronic Engineering; and Prof Bian Liming, Assistant Professor of Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, paid a return visit to Monash.

 

Both sides exchanged an overview of their faculties’ successes in 2016 and the delegation was arranged to visit ARMI and MIME. The researchers shared their related research findings and discussed about common research interests to explore the possibility of future joint PhD research training.
